Improving Women’s Economic Status through Small Scale Agricultural Projects in Jenin Districts

Brief description about the Project:

The main goal of the Project is to improve the living conditions and livelihood opportunities of rural women in the targeted villages in Jenin District. To this end, the Project would seek to meet the immediate needs of the Palestinian women whilst also contributing to their longer term development. This would be achieved through:

(a) Restoring access to key essential services such as training and agricultural extension;

(b) Promoting opportunities for the target group to access the necessary resources (Funds) to improve their income earning opportunities

The services involved:

  1. Recruitment of beneficiaries
  2. Training sessions for participants through:
  • Raising Beneficiaries knowledge of Modern Practices skills and techniques in agricultural work: irrigation, land reclamation, treating and caring of bees, chickens and sheep,
  • Face to Face Counselling by visiting the beneficiaries in target villages in Jenin District,
  1. Implementation of small scale agricultural projects
  2. Access to ongoing cultural extensions


  • 18 marginalized female headed households received agricultural projects (animal husbandry

or land reclamation)

  • 54 farmers received access to improved agricultural practices through agricultural counseling and training
  • 10 men earned income through temporary employment
  • 3 training sessions delivered on modern agricultural practices
