About the Project:

JUHOUD for Community & Rural Development is implementing the project titled “Resilient Communities and Participative in Local Development” aims to build the capacities of young men and women (aged 17-30 years) in Ramallah and Salfit villages (Kifl Hares, Dier Istya, Dier Balout, Ein Sinya, Dura Al-Qare’ and Jifna) to activate their role in the community life and enabling them to engage in local development activities especially in domestic tourism and environmental local initiatives. The project is implemented in partnership between JUHOUD and Catholic Relief Services (CRS) and the Family Health International (FHI 360), within the framework of the Civic and Community Participation (CPCE) project which is funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID),

Achieved outcomes:

  • More than 20 coordination meetings with the targeted communities were conducted to introduce them to the project objective and activities,
  • 6 MOUs were signed with the active CBOs in the targeted communities,
  • 100 youth divided in five groups (20 person) received (24 training hrs./each group) in leadership, communication skills and design local initiatives, were delivered Capacity building for the youth and woman’s active centers through reviewing and modifying their development strategies and evaluating the community needs and determining local priorities on effective participatory basis to ensure meeting the different need of all categories.
  • More than 12 local initiatives were implemented in the targeted communities, with participation of more than 350-person regards the fields of conserving cultural, heritage and natural sites with aim of enhancing the domestic and local tourism in these areas.
  • Awareness Campaigns are conducted in the targeted locations throughout social media platforms, focus groups and public orientation meetings to raise awareness of public.
